Dr. Lyle Roberts

Australian National University

Lyle is an engineer and physicist with a passion for technology and design. His background
is in precision laser interferometry, digital signal processing, FPGA development and
systems engineering. During his PhD, Lyle began working at Canberra-based startup
company Liquid Instruments as an FPGA developer, translating his knowledge of digital
signal processing and advanced scientific instrumentation into products for the company's
flexible hardware platform, Moku:Lab. Lyle stayed on at Liquid Instruments after graduating
in 2016 whilst also continuing his research in the field of optics, working on technologies
including ground-to-satellite laser communications, free-space quantum-key distribution,
optical phased arrays, and more recently LiDAR. In 2018, Lyle started a new role at Liquid
Instruments as a product manager to focus on defining the company's strategies for future
product development, marketing and sales.
