Prof. Simeon Simoff
Professor Simeon Simoff is the Dean of the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics at Western Sydney University. He has also held the role of Head of School of Computing and Mathematics (2007-2011) and a Professor of Information Technology at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). Professor Simoff has held research positions at the Institute of Artificial Intelligence Research of the Spanish Research Council (IIIA-CSIC), Ecole Polytechnique– University of Nantes, Aalborg University, Free University of Bolzano-Bozen, University of Trento, Middle-East Technical University, Stanford University and the University of Sydney. He has published over 340 research works in visual analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), data science and human-centred technologies, and has supervised over 20 PhD students. Professor Simoff is a founding Director of the Institute of Analytics Professionals of Australia. In 2000-2005 he was the associate editor (Australia) of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering. Currently he is on the editorial board of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Science Review and on the AI and Ethics Committee of the Technical Advisory Board of the Australian Computer Society. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New South Wales and the Institute of Engineers Australia.
