Mr. Michael de La Chapelle
Mike deLaChapelle is a Senior Technical Fellow in Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) with over 35 years’ experience, mainly in space systems. Mike supports new business and technology development for Boeing in Australia. Mike is a technical expert in radio frequency (RF) and optical communication & sensing systems, and has supported commercial and military programs across the Boeing enterprise. Over his career Mike has led or supported programs to integrate communications and sensing technology into a wide range of mobile platforms, including all types of piloted and unpiloted/autonomous vehicles including fixed-wing aircraft, rotorcraft, satellites, ships, underwater vessels and trucks. He has also led the development of communication subsystems (radios, networking equipment) and components (radomes, antennas, modems, etc.). Mike holds over 25 US and international patents, has multiple Boeing special invention awards, and has authored many papers on a wide range of technologies. He has taught formal classes on satellite communication through the Boeing Ed Wells Partnership and UCLA Extension. Mike holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees from Cornell University in Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering, respectively.
